Committee for the XIIth ISHA
The bidding process for selecting the venue and host for the XIIth International Symposium on the History of Anesthesia 2029 will take place during the ISHA2025 in Paris.
The presentation by potential applicants should cover all the following. At the end of the presentation, questions can be put to the applicants by any of the committee members. Following the presentation and questions, the applicants will be asked to leave the room and we will discuss the application under the following headings.
– City and venue proposed
– Commitment of the National Society of Anesthesiology
– Partnership with Societies of Anesthesiology and/or Historical Societies and Universities
– Constituents of the committees – planning and scientific
– Brief biographies of the committee members, including previous ISHA attendance
– Previous meeting organising experience of committee members
– Proposed dates, climate, weather
– Travel logistics
– Budget
– Other things to do in the city – e.g local historical attractions, planned outings, etc…
– Number of parallel sessions planned
– Potential guest speakers, planned local speakers, historians
– Number of people expected to attend
– Plans to publish the proceedings – proposed editors, publisher and previous experience. Ideally some indication that there is a member of the editorial team who has experience working with papers from non-english speaking backgrounds
– Sponsorship plans

Le comité d’organisation a décidé de prolonger la date limite de l’appel à résumés jusqu’au 30 avril 2025.
Ce sera une nouvelle chance de présenter et de parler au symposium à Paris.
Nous sommes convaincus que ce sera également une nouvelle chance pour les jeunes anesthésistes de concourir pour le prix d’un vieil inhalateur d’Ombredanne.

ISHA Janvier 2025
L’année 2025 est arrivée.
Le comité d’organisation et le conseil scientifique sont mobilisés pour le 11e Symposium international sur l’histoire de l’anesthésie (ISHA) qui se tiendra les 16, 17 et 18 septembre 2025 à Paris.
L’Université Paris Cité accueillera le Symposium les deux premiers jours dans ses locaux historiques rue de l’Ecole de Médecine. Nous aurons l’occasion de discuter et d’échanger lors de conférences et de sessions de communication.
La Société Française d’Anesthésie et de Réanimation (SFAR) nous accueillera le troisième jour lors de son congrès annuel au Palais des Congrès de la Porte Maillot à Paris. C’est un moment important car nous accueillons en même temps les conférences du World Congress of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia (WCVAA).
Le comité scientifique organise des conférences sur un large éventail de sujets, dont certains sont uniques. Dix-huit conférences sont déjà programmées. L’appel à communications est maintenant ouvert et nous vous invitons à soumettre vos résumés. La date limite est fixée au 31 mars.
Une exposition de matériel et de livres sur l’anesthésie est également prévue de juillet à octobre au Musée de l’histoire de la médecine, avec une visite guidée pendant la période du congrès.
En outre, nous proposerons une visite du Collège de France, lieu historique où Claude Bernard avait son laboratoire, ainsi qu’une visite de l’Institut de France abritant l’Académie des Sciences où se sont déroulées les délibérations relatives à la découverte de l’anesthésie.
Enfin, Paris n’existe pas sans la Seine. Un dîner de gala aura lieu sur un bateau le mercredi soir.
